Twilight
The twilight time is almost upon the horizon
With stars unusually clear and liberally bright
Even the night air is still and almost foreboding
Soon the night dwellers will fill the darkness
Occasionally the rustle of leaves can be heard
But is the wind of something approaching
Moonlight is beginning to pierce the dark
And strange shadows are forming all around
On a hillside nearby shapes now appear
Or are they just trees swaying in the breeze
Imagination at night becomes heightened
And every sound is a mystery to explore
Darkness is not to be feared but experienced
Stillness away from daytime noises are calming
Only the stars and moon for illumination now
With a calm and serene pleasure to enjoy
There is renewed sound again from the leaves
And now almost the faint perception of eyes
Remaining motionless and always observing
What creature could be watching from afar
As footsteps grow every closer within view
With the faint sound of slow breathing
As the shape comes enters into the moonlight
Only a few deer foraging nightly for food
